Carry a water bottle with you to school. Remain hydrated all day. This will help you to quench your thirst when you are hungry in between classes. Drinking water frequently during the day can help you remain focused and energized. There are always a number of different water fountains on campus to refill a water bottle when you need to.

Remember to watch your food intake. There's nothing fun about the freshman 15! Make sure to be mindful of your eating. Stay away from processed foods and fast foods. Find foods that give you the proper nutrition and vitamins to support a healthy body.

You should apply for loans and grants as soon as you can. When you apply early, there is a better chance you will receive more funds. Figure out a system that allows you to manage your finances and allows you to apply for things quickly.

You want to be sure that you have the right testing materials, as they vary for different classes. Forgetting things such as a calculator during a big math test could place you at a big disadvantage. A lot of instructors do not have extra supplies, so you should not forget to bring what you need for the test.

Study as much as possible every day. The more you put in, the more you'll get out. While you can still socialize you should treat college like a full time job. Doing great in your classes will ensure that you make more money and have a better job.

It is important to get plenty of sleep. Many college students enjoy the freedom of going to bed whenever they want; therefore, they choose to stay up all night long and party, causing them to not get enough sleep. However, sleep is vital. If you aren't getting enough sleep, then your mind will not function the way it should be, which can negatively impact your grades.

Deciding whether or not you need a car while you're in college is something you need to consider carefully. In heavily populated cities, you may have difficulty finding a free parking space. If you do not have a job, you might have trouble paying your insurance and buying gasoline.

Register as early as you can for classes. Procrastinating can cause you to lose your seat in the classes you want the most. When you determine which class you want to take, sign up immediately!

If you like to drink coffee, avoid buying coffee each morning. A daily cup of coffee can be expensive over time. Instead, take the time to make your own cup of coffee. It might not be quite as convenient as visiting the neighborhood coffee shop, but it's a lot cheaper. You can even buy a fancy machine and save.

Frequent the library at your university. Many useful resources are available in your library to help you do well. Get acquainted with the librarian, as he or she can help you find exactly what you need to do well in your classes. Usually, a bulletin board is located in the library where textbooks can be bought and sold.

Do more than take electives to broaden your horizons. Do more on campus. Sign up for clubs, and give work-study positions a try. A college campus is a diverse mix of many different activities. Look for an activity that you've never done before and give it a shot.
